Q. What does "Support multiple units of measure for each part" mea?? A. Each final component can have associated up to three different Units of Measure. CMS Manufacturing Solutions allows you track your purchased materials in one unit of measure and your manufactured item's materials in another. Each final component can have associated up to three different Units of Measure. The "Engineering Unit Measure" stands for the unit of measure of this part into the whole assembly. The "Purchasing Unit of Measure" refers to the measure used when placing the order to a supplier; not necessarily equal to the "Engineering Unit Measure." Finally, the "Weight Unit of Measure" indicates the measure (Pounds, Kilos, or grams, etc) that expresses the weight of one (1) "Engineering Unit" of the associated part; very useful for computing the assembly total weight. A sample explains it easily. Let's say part "X" is a piece of wire; an assembly "Y" is composed of many parts; one of them is: three inches of "X" wire. However, I do not order "inches" of "X" wire when buying it; rather, I buy one (1) Roll of 250 yards of "X" wire. Each "inch" of "X" weights 0.05 pounds. The result is: "Engineering Unit Measure": inch; "Purchasing Unit of Measure": Unit (1 unit = 250 Yard roll) and "Weight Unit of Measure": pound.
